I can’t recall whether or not if the dream I was having, held any significance. It was my alarm that struck me awake. It was that moment that my eyes quickly opened, it was as if I finally reached the surface after being pushed down in water for several seconds. I was alive. I forgot I existed, forgot that I was just asleep, forgot that another day would be starting.

Remembering these things the millisecond my alarm went off wasn’t ideal.

A sprout exerted its’ way through the soft coffee bean coloured soil. She never expected such a sprout to suddenly appear in her pot of soil. It was almost like it had a purpose. It was stubborn; acting as if it were a garden weed. It was petite but surely growing. She was unsure as to what actions to liberate with this rigid sprout. Days passed, then weeks passed, then even months passed and it just kept growing and growing. Alongside its’ growth, she became more and more fond of it’s persistence. It’s almost as if they befriended each other. She would excitedly and impatiently wait for each morning to come because she didn’t feel as alone. The sprout kept her company. As the days passed, she grew more drawn to this lime coloured bud that has slowly bloomed. The time came in which it had fully blossomed and she who own that pot of soil, had never expected for this to occur. The roots had over grown the cramped mahogany pot and the water was at its peak.

She gently grabbed the sprout by its top, released it from the soil that was once it’s home and discarded the sprout that once again looked petite yet withering.
